Review: We had some fun on the fact Christos (that's how you spell Christ in Romanian and in several other languages) himself sent us a CD with his band, so now we are expecting Lucifer with a new release, hahaha. Joke apart, The Farewell Fields is a pretty good surprise for me as I don't receive much gothic rock CDs these days, especially good ones. Well this is a good one and although it's a demo with only 2 original tracks and one cover, if Christos knows how and where to send it I am sure we have here a new hit for the gothic scene. Although he said his influences come more from bands like Lacuna Coil, Paradise Lost, Theatre Of Tragedy, Tristania and The Gathering I would say The Farewell Fields is a combination of The Cremberries, Anathema and The Gathering and even some Enia's kind of atmospheres. To be honest I never heard the original version of "Everyday is Like Sunday", but the one T.F.F. did is a very good one suitable for radio-airplay too. Christos found in Niki a perfect, beautyful voice, it's not everyday you get to hear such a perfect, clear voice in metal music; she reminds me a lot of The Cremberries' one. Besides, he really knows how to create a heavenly atmosphere for his music using enchanting keys, vocal choirs, piano parts, and non-disturbing, although quite strong guitar-riffs. Good one, I need to find more about this project in an interview, so stay tuned if this review made curious too. To be honest I am sorry there are only a little more than 10 minutes on this CD, but I know an album is on his way.
