Wayside Total time: 49:44 Review: Pretty damn spooky name for such a band. They are playing, if you can imagine that, some sort of heavy metal music with important influences from other styles. At first they were named Killing Thrash and were playing a combination of heavy/power and death metal and it seems that some sounds from the beginings are still present. "Wayside" is a very good album with a music that attracts any open-minded metalhead who's into mixed sounds. Basically Motus Tenebrae are pure and simple heavy metal, the NWOBHM way, but they have numerous influences from that doomy/goth style a la Type O Negative and the new love metal a la The 69 Eyes. They are catchy as hell, so I don't know how they aren't signed yet as I see a gold mine in this band with a good financial help for some very modern and professional recordings. The vocalist has a good voice and he's full of imagination and with a little more work he can really help the band rise from the underground. If you already read some of my previous reviews you've seen I appreciate a lot the diversity and complexity of an album and this one is in that category so it didn't bore me at all and I am sure it will hit my player again in the future. The 5th track is a Maiden-like heavy metal great song with some epic touches and is one of the best on this album. I still have not decided if it's my fave, but it's certainly in the top 3.
