Review: It's not everyday you have the chance to hear a band that sounds like 15 years back. Mortifilia is one of those bands, they are on the same path as the Swedish death metal bands were 15 years back, so this is aggressive, fast and very technical death metal, a blend of Dismember's rhythms, At The Gates (old) aggressivity and force, and Unleashed's power in rhythm section. Their guitars would use some more catchy rhythms, but as a debut album they are doing a terrific job both on riffs and lead patterns. The rhythm section works like a Swiss clock, so there's nothing to fear on that. The vocalist is a little bit too in the background of the whole music, although he uses the old-school way of masculine Swedish death metal vocals. If they'll continue on the same path and improve in catchy rhythms they can reach a high level in worldwide death metal for sure. Hopefully they'll not turn to the new Swedish scene metal music and become very melodic and stuff...
