Review: This band reminds me in some points of a Romanian band from about 5 years ago, Arc Gotic, and their first album. That, combined with another band, Rain Fell Within from the States, gives me more than a half of Drahk von Trip's music. For the ones of you who don't know the above mentioned bands, Arc Gotic was a dark-wave/gothic band, and Rain Fell Within a gothic one with female vocals. But these Swedes are more than that. They are fully using psychedelic touches along with some ethnic and nature sounds and samples. This is their first album, recorded live in 2 days at Gula Studios from Malmo, Sweden, that's why it has a raw sound, and that doesn't mean it's bad. The effects used on vocals are making them sound somehow stifled and jazzy. All the material inhere emanates huge improvisation from the band so when you see how good instrumentists these guys are that improvisation becomes good, moody music ideal for the psychedelic fans. To tell you the truth when playing the first track I thought I would be bored the hell with this CD, but I really get to my and I started enjoying it after the 4th track and so I discovered a good band that needs more attention. I guess they are a well-known band in Sweden by now, of if not, they should be. The only thing I don't like from this album is the cover artwork, too...old-school and meaningless for such a band. Well, I think the next album will be their break if they'll record it properly in a good studio and with a profi production. Until then you can check this one out as a snack for what's to come.
