Review: There's another band with this name in France, but those guys are some sort of electro-metal and the quartet from Germany are spreading some sort of melodic black metal played with a lot of imagination, I must admit. This one is their second full-lenght CD and from some sort of reason they remind me of Eminenz, but that's not because of their music which is a lot different. Anael plays melodic black metal with slow and mid-paced rhythms mostly, but the fast parts are present too, although not as much as in the Scandinavian black. The good thing for my tastes is the sound: the instruments are intelligible and clean sounding, that way you can evaluate their skills properly. This is not the usual zum-zum black metal band and the underground black metallers might even say this is not black because is not satanic or grim. Anael are based on intelligent and well-thought rhythms with complex parts, although they still need some work to be more catchy. All in all this is a good product, not boring at all, one that will hit my player again for sure.
