Review: I think this promo is a collage of all their previous three demos, a best of Aliaj. I must admit that although they are Romanians and i quite follow the domestic scene, this name is a new one for me, and especially their music. After listening this almost 20 mins CD I wander why they are still so underground. Aliaj is indie rock all the way with particular influences from U2, so you're guessing right they are at the border of commercial and underground. They can follow the mainstream flow easy as they got the skills and the catchy part needed for that. The first track is a great track, a hit-single that has a video on this promo CD too. Both the video and the track are exquisite, very appealing and memorable. It's a track that would fit any daily radio or TV station playlist without boring. The video is so well done I'm astonished. It's rare a small band gets a professional videoclip like that. The next 2 tracks, "Vand" and "Doar noi", have nothing to impress me or other listeners, although some guitar works are quite intelligent. The fourth is an instrumental one, very good, very catchy, with a Brit-pop hint, a demonstration of nice instrumental skils and immagination. And finally the last track has a clear stoner rock instrumental feeling, so that's how many rhythms and moods are touched by Aliaj during these 5 tracks. My fave is and will remain "Hai!", an impressive masterpiece of commercial rock. I wander what musical path will be followed next by Aliaj.
