Review: Alarum is one of the best surprises I had in the last months. They are proving me that Australia has his progressive metal jewels too, along with the black or death metal ones. Alarum goes on the same path the three progressive metal masterbands (Death, Cynic, Atheist) were, but they include more jazzy touches and some other influences. From time to time I can say they have a little from Messuggah as well. From my past reviews I would say they are a combination of Romanian progressive death metal band Taine, American progressive rock band Tunnels, hyper-blasting death metal band Malebolgia and some Portuguese gothic metal band Luna Martyr. This is a perfect product and if I would have to grade it from 1 to 10, I would give it a maximum for sure. It is catchy, impressively technical and well-conceived, tight as hell, powerful, complex, malodical, all that a masterpiece needs! None of you lovers of progressive metal should miss this opus! I bet these guys will become headliners in short time. Too bad they are not from Europe, as it would have been easier to break the scene.
