Review: Maybe at this time Grenouer is the leading death metal band in Russia, although they kinda parted ways with the basis of that genre. I like the fact they are extremely acurate about their image and presentation which shows a western approach of music - that would be their first plus. Grenouer was formed in 1992 and since then they have released 4 full-lenght albums. Since last year, when releasing the "Presence With War" album, they started working with famous studios from Finland for mixing and mastering. That time the mastering was done in Finnvox and the mixing part for "Try" in Astia Studio under Anssi Kippo's (Children Of Bodom, Impaled Nazarene) supervision. Getting to music now, "Try" is like an experiment for the band as they went on the techno metalcore path this time and the death metal is left behind, except for a very few hints of it. They are attacking now a more mainstream style, with lots of effects and rhythms trendy at the moment. This here is a good job that will help Grenouer reach a better market and maybe get a good deal. They are getting somewhere, that's for sure, but for the coagulation of all these new ideas they still need some time. The rhythms are now a combination of Meshuggah, In Flames, Korn and some Hypocrisy. If I'm not mistaking (and I'm not) the drums are programmed so if you don't agree with the use of a drum-machine stay away from this and wait for the next album who might be all live recorded. The cover artwork style from this product resembles a lot with the one from 1996's "Border of Misty Times". "Try" comes with a multimedia part where you can find the lyrics, some info and some promotional pictures.
