Review: Hohoho, we have here a full history to date of this band from USA. It's strange to hear such a band that's not from the North European states... From the beginning you can sense they still have to work more on their compositions, but that's not because they're boring or something like that, but because they are not unitary in what concerns sound. The "Everything Beautyful Dies" CD begins with a black thrahs track, continues with black death one with a stronger black metal side, the third is also black death but with a much more pronounced death metal sound, the fourth is technical, brutal and melodic black death, and finally the last one is ultra brutal death black. So you have a lot where from to chose, but I think that's not the point of a great band, so Bloodwritten have some more to work on that. The musical execution and complexity is their strongest point, so the rhythms varies from brutal, to technical, to old-school blurry ones. The vocalist is a pretty good one and so is the rhythmical section. To tell you the truth, when first listening this album the intro gave me the impression this is a weak gothic band, but after all I'm glad I was wrong. My fave track on this one is "Dormant Crown".
The next CD, although older (it was recorded back in 2001) is yet another thing as the guys are very tight inhere and the sound is quite the same on the whole product. They sound brutal death metal with thrash influences and some black metal ones too in what concerns attitude. The sound is cruel, raw and somehow unpolished which gives them more brutality and aggression. An EP that harasses you from the start till the end with strong, unrelenting rhythm section, massive guitar work and vicious, screamy vocals. I hope they'll come back to this old way of approaching their compositions...
